Celebrating Our Roots: Collaboration with SPIC MACAY
At St. Xavier’s High School, we believe that education is incomplete without a deep connection to one’s cultural roots. To nurture this connection and instill a sense of pride and appreciation for India’s rich artistic heritage, we have partnered with SPIC MACAY — The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth.
SPIC MACAY is a renowned voluntary movement dedicated to preserving and promoting the intangible cultural heritage of India. Through this collaboration, we regularly host performances and interactive sessions featuring renowned and local artists from across the country. These enriching experiences expose students to the beauty and depth of Indian classical music, dance, folk traditions, yoga, meditation, crafts, and more.
Key Highlights of the SPIC MACAY Partnership:
- Live performances by celebrated artists in Indian classical and folk traditions
- Interactive sessions fostering dialogue between students and cultural icons
- Workshops on traditional arts, crafts, and wellness practices like yoga and meditation
- A platform for students to explore the richness of Indian heritage beyond textbooks
These immersive cultural experiences help our students build a stronger emotional and spiritual connect with their roots, encouraging respect for tradition while nurturing a well-rounded worldview.
Through our ongoing collaboration with SPIC MACAY, St. Xavier’s continues to honor the past while inspiring the future — keeping India’s timeless heritage alive in every young heart.
